Erds’ practice areas are diverse, as she has significant experience in litigation, corporate, and commercial transactions and special projects.  Prior to founding Go and Umali, Erds served as the Deputy Chief Presidential Legal Counsel at the Office of the President in 2015.  She was a senior associate at Gatmaytan Yap Patacsil Gutierrez & Protacio, formerly known as Caguioa & Gatmaytan from 2012 to 2015.

With her extensive experience in Government Procurement, Infrastructure and Public-Private Partnership projects, Erds assists consortiums composed of major Philippine business conglomerates and their foreign partners bid for projects identified by the Philippine government as priority PPP projects, and advised such private bidders on all aspects of Philippine law from bidding to construction to operation to handover. Erds also acts as transaction adviser to the government in various infrastructure projects.

Erds likewise handles general corporate and commercial transactions, advising on corporate structuring, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, data privacy compliance and licensing and regulatory matters.  She has spearheaded various due diligence exercises to determine compliance of entities with relevant national laws and regulations.

Erds is involved in the firm’s litigation practice, having appeared and argued before Philippine courts of all levels and numerous quasi-judicial bodies, with a particular focus in handling damage claims, torts and medical malpractice cases, land disputes, and injunction cases.  She also practices criminal law, having appeared as both private prosecutor and defense counsel, particularly before the Office of the Ombudsman and Sandiganbayan.

Erds is a part-time lecturer at the Ateneo de Manila School of Law, where she teaches Remedial Law Review, Civil Procedure, Torts and Damages and Appellate Practice.

Atty. Mildred Yovela S. Umali-Hermogenes

Prior to establishing Go and Umali, Mildred served at the Office of the President as Assistant Secretary (2013-2014) and Undersecretary of the Office of the Chief Presidential Legal Counsel (2015-2016) and later on as the Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs (2016). Prior to joining the Office of the President, Mildred was an Associate in Gatmaytan Yap Patacsil Gutierrez & Protacio (then Caguioa & Gatmaytan).

During her stint with the Office of the President, Mildred actively handled and reviewed legal matters and concerns of national significance, including government arbitration, Public-Private Partnerships projects and other commercial contracts and transactions. She also served as the Chair of the Bids and Awards Committee in the Office of the President.

Mildred regularly advises clients on banking, intellectual property, technology and telecommunications laws and regulations, as well as importation and customs regulations and requirements. Mildred is also well versed with tax compliance requirements related to clients’ businesses and commercial transactions, protesting deficiency assessments and claiming refunds for local and internal revenue taxes. 

 Mildred appears and represents clients before courts of all levels, quasi-judicial bodies and regulatory agencies.  Mildred has assisted the firm’s clients in criminal cases before regular courts and proceedings involving violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act before the Office of the Ombudsman and Sandiganbayan.  She also specializes in civil and commercial litigation, covering a wide range of subjects including debt recovery cases, corporate rehabilitation and liquidation, land ownership and possession, damage claims, intra-corporate disputes and estate settlement.
